May is ‘healthy eyes’ month

There are many ways to keep your eyes healthy.  Foremost, of course, is to have your eyes examined on a regular schedule.  We recommend children have their first eye exam at around age 5, and then every 2 years thereafter.  Patients over the age of 60, we recommend annual eye exams.

There are more and more studies being released looking at different vitamins and minerals.  While most of these studies focus on patients with Macular Degeneration, there are several trends in diet and eye health that have shown that eating a more well balanced diet has reduced the incidence of eye diseases.

So, when trying to keep a healthier lifestyle, eat right and don’t forget about your eyes.
