Dr. Carl F. Clavenna is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in refractive cataract surgery helping people see clearly using the latest techniques.
He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. He graduated as Valedictorian from Georgetown University in Washington D. C., with a Master of Science degree in Human Physiology and Biophysics. Dr. Clavenna graduated Valedictorian from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed both an internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Ophthalmology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Since 1993 Dr. Clavenna has been a board-certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Carl Clavenna has been treating eye disease and performing vison correction surgery, including cataract surgery, since 1993. He is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Michigan State Medical Society and Oakland County Medical Society. In 2007 and 2009, Dr. Clavenna was selected as one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. His peers also selected him to be included in Hour Detroit Magazine’s “Top Doc” issue for the past several years.
In October 1999, Dr. Clavenna underwent vision correction surgery to correct his nearsightedness. With the help of his personal experience with vision correction procedures, he has a better understanding and compassion for his patients’ concerns and needs. He is dedicated to providing both the quality of care and technical skill his patients deserve. Dr. Clavenna is committed to personalizing vision care by avoiding the assembly line type of care provided by so many others.
